Funeral services held for Boyd Hayward Day

Boyd Hayward Day, age 85, of Scipio, Ind., died August 29, at Hospice of Hamilton in Indiana.

Born in Letcher County to the late Lawrence and Vera Calihan Day, he was the widower of Vivian Ruth Hogg.

Mr. Day had worked for over 45 years for Brower- Pease and in his spare time was an avid outdoorsman who also enjoyed woodworking and loved being with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

He was a founding member of the Franklin County Water Association, serving on its board for many years.

He was proud to be a honorary Kentucky colonel, and loved purple martins.

Survivors include two sons, Terry and wife Judy, and Tim wife Gigi, all of Okeana, Oh.; a daughter, Kim “Sis” of Batesville, Ind.; grandchildren, Justin and wife Kelly, Kyle and wife Ashley, Jacob and wife Kayla, Caleb and wife Morgan, and Kelsey and husband Nick; eight great-grandchildren, Lydia, Lucy, Simon, Roland, Jameson, Evelyn, Henry, and Juniper; two brothers, Leon and wife Luann, and Don and wife Sheila; and a sister, Linda York.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Iva Jean Day and Barbara Gindling, and a brother, Ed Day.

Funeral services for Mr. Day were held September 1 in Brookville, Ind. Burial was in Union Cemetery in Scipio, Ind.
