Hubert Gibson, 93, of Appalachia, Va., died September 16 at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, Va.
A son of the late Willie and Lola Collins Gibson, he was the widower of Lida Hall Gibson.
Mr. Gibson was the oldest living Class B member of the Neon American Legion. He was a Shriner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
Surviving are three sons, Eddie Dean Gibson of Wise, Va., Hubert Gibson Jr. of Dryden, Va., and Willie Monroe Gibson of Blackwood, Va.; a daughter, Irene Leach of Wise, Va.; five grandchildren, Brian Edward Gibson, Joshua Uriah Gibson, Ryan Eddie Gibson, Kwana Ann Lawson, and Sarah Elizabeth Lambert; eight great grandchildren, Brycen Christian, Seth Alexander Collins, Macie Ella Gibson, Braden Gibson, Rylee Gibson, Maxwell Edward Gibson, Abigail Chandler, and Oaklyn Alcoa Lambert; and special friend, Frankie Robinette.
Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by five brothers and sister, Tracy, Chalmer, Deloris, Annetta, and Crystal.
Graveside services were held September 18 at Green Acres Cemetery.
Letcher Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
