Ila Amburgey Hall, 97, of Nicholasville, died December 26.
A daughter of the late Laura Crace Amburgey and Manuel L. Amburgey, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell L. Hall; a son, Russell Daryl Hall; five brothers, Orel Amburgey, Bengie Amburgey, Willie Amburgey, Ted Amburgey and Owen Amburgey; and three sisters, Bernice Adams, Cleada Caudill, and Orpha Bryant.
Mrs. Hall’s first love was her family, cooking and entertaining family around the table. She was an excellent cook, homemaker, gardener, landscaper, and seamstress, and a creative needle worker. In addition, most of her adult life she owned grocery stores.
Surviving are her daughter, Santa Carol Hall Houggard; two grandsons, Russell Todd Hall and Adam J. Hannahs; two great-grandsons, Russell Drew Hall and Christopher Allen Hall and children; a brother, Neweral Amburgey; a sister, Sally Faye Hampton and husband Charles, two sisters-in-law, Emma Amburgey and husband Owen, and Sue Amburgey and husband Ted, and an informally adopted daughter, Brenda Lloyd.
Funeral services were held December 29 at Letcher Funeral Home. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.
