James F. “Chum” Tackett, 75, of Booneville and Jenkins, died February 17 after a long illness.
He was a son of the late Frank Harvey and Leitha Ray Tackett, and a brother of the late Grant Tackett, Billy Tackett, Donald Tackett, Grayson Tackett, Thurman Tackett, Lexie Ambrose and Patricia Persinger.
Mr. Tackett enjoyed barbering, being a magistrate and mayor, and helping those in need.
He was administrator of Golden Years Rest Home for 35 years, and was a Cleveland Browns fan.
Surviving are his wife of almost 52 years, Juanita Jean Webb Tackett; a daughter, Kimberly Jean Price and husband Sonny of Booneville; a son, James Harvey Tackett and wife Jan of Owingsville; seven grandchildren, Jacob Addison and Trevor Addison, both of Booneville, Jordan Tackett and wife Misty of Uniontown, Jared Tackett and wife Mary of Sweet Briar, Va., Jonah Tackett of Owingsville, and Blake Price and Brooke Price, both of Lexington; three great-grandchildren, Koby, Reece and Cash; three sisters, Dorsey Ray Smallwood of Lexington, Selena Sue Gilbert of Lily, and Mary Nell Frazier of Marion, Oh.; a brother, Jack Tackett of Hendersonville, N.C.; and a number family members and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Tackett were held February 19 at Polly & Craft Chapel at Jenkins. Burial was in the Leith Ray Tackett Cemetery at Burdine.
