Funeral services set for Eileen Banks





Whitesburg native, Eileen Bentley Banks, 84, died July 19 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington.

A daughter of the late James and Regina Brown, she was the widow of Burnis Banks.

She was retired from the Fayette County School System and was a teacher in the Clays Mill Elementary School. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of Eastern Star and the Fayette County Teachers Association.

Surviving her are two daughters, Cheryl Legg and husband Dale of Skillman, N.J., and Carole Banks Keller of Louisville; four grandchildren, Jo Dale Legg, Austin Nathaniel Matlee, Erin Lynn Legg and John Christopher Keller; and a sister, Eunice Taylor.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 24 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, from 5 – 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 25 at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Lexington.

Burial will be in the Sandlick Cemetery in Whitesburg.

Everidge Funeral Home of Whitesburg had charge of the local arrangements.
