William F. “Bill” Wilson, 75, died October 5 at his home at Dry Fork.
A son of the late Robert R. “Buddy” and Lucy Mae Wilson, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert Wilson, Dean Wilson, Henry Clay Wilson, Chester Lee Wilson, and Paul Avery Wilson.
Mr. Wilson began working just out of high school as a car mechanic. He continued to support his family as a mechanic and then as a heavy machinery mechanic until his retirement. He enjoyed making things work that other people could not. To him it was like a puzzle, he would spend hours tinkering on them. He enjoyed fishing, sitting on the back porch watching the birds, squirrels, and deer play, and spending time with his family.
He was baptized on Christmas Day 1988, and had attended church regularly since that day. His love for the Lord was known and shown to others every day.
Surviving are his wife, Yvonne Williams Wilson; two children and their spouses, Cynthia and Stephen Trent and William and Brandy Wilson; a grandson, Trey Wilson; a bonus granddaughter, Samantha Ratliff; two great-granddaughters; a brother, Randall; and seven sisters, Eula Mae, Denva Gay, Deloris, Linda, Joyce, Mable, and Donna.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, October 8, at Letcher Funeral Home. Visitation is at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.
