It is that time of year for boat and RV shows. I went to the East Kentucky Boat and RV Show at the expo center in Pikeville last weekend.
There was a big crowd Saturday night while we were there. A lot of folks come out to see what is new and different. There was a good selection of boats and campers plus four wheelers and side by sides and a lot of motorcycles. All of this was down in the main arena floor area. Up on the walkway, all the booths and venders were set up. A few booths had real good prices on tackle and fishing rods and reels.
The always-popular trout pond was there for kids to fish in. We saw some kids catch some nice size trout. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife had a booth where they gave out a lot of stuff and talked to people.
You can find the lowest prices on boats and campers at these shows. If you are in the market for a camper or a boat this is the time to talk to a dealer because in a few months the prices will go up quite a bit. There were all types of boats at the show. You could look at fi- berglass or aluminum boats — all loaded out and ready to go fishing. You can get about any motor upgrade with these boats. There were several pontoon boats at the show. Most of them are set up to fish from and sleep on if you want.
The campers get nicer and nicer each year and look more like a fancy home than a camper. I love to camp and look at all the campers each year to get ideas for my own. Some have slide out kitchens and TV’s you can watch outside. Some of the top-of-the-line campers have electric fireplaces that are very nice.
There will be several more boat shows around the area, so watch for them and go see what’s new in outdoor equipment.
