Gabby’s fishing fever

Prepare now for better fishing ahead

The weather has been quickly changing the past couple of weeks. One day it was sunny and 70 degrees and the next day it was snowing and cold. Next it poured the rain and all the creeks and rivers flooded out. All of this makes fishing very hard to do.

With this in mine, now is a good time to catch up on things like cleaning and working on your fishing equipment. I am sure there is not a bass angler that could not go through their lures and sort them out and organize them better.

I like to use the large plastic trays with the dividers. This is the most efficient way I have found to organize large amounts of tackle.

Crank baits, long jerk baits and top water baits are so much easier to locate when you need one of them when they are stored in these clear trays. Also, tube baits and other smaller plastic baits can be sorted out by size, color and brand into the smaller compartments. I even have a smaller plastic tray box in which I keep my larger bass worm hooks and several sizes of sinkers.

The best part is that you can put all these trays into a large softsided tackle bag and keep several of them with you at all times. You can change out the trays to suit the type of fishing you are doing at the time.

You can also you can use this down time to change the line on your reels and to clean and grease them if needed. Get your gear ready and be ready to go yourself when the weather turns back good.
