I vacationed in Tennessee with my family recently in the Gatlinburg area and came upon several good lakes including Cherokee and Norris.
I have fished these lakes for several years and always seem to do well there. There are several other well-known lakes in Tennessee as well, such as like Old Hickory, Douglas, Watts Bar and many more. Most offer great fishing for largemouth bass and crappie.
The most anticipated fishing time for most anglers from this area when it comes to the Tennessee Valley Authority lakes is winter, when smallmouth bass fishing becomes the rage. Anglers from all over Tennessee and surrounding states travel to the TVA lakes in hope of catching smallmouth, which is my favorite fish to catch.
Our Kentucky lakes also offer great fishing, so we are blessed to have all this fishing in our general area. I mostly grew up fishing on Cherokee Lake and I know it well. I have won several fishing tournaments there over the years and caught several really nice crappie and bluegill with my dad and a many nice bass with my friends.
Back when I was doing a fishing show for television, we filmed several good shows on the Tennessee lakes. So if you’re looking for a hot fishing spot close to home, give the TVA lakes a try.
