Gabby’s fishing fever

Lower lake level mean better fishing

Crappie are still active in most all the lakes in our area.

On the hottest or the coldest day, crappie — a favorite of many anglers — can be caught by using the right fishing method to find and catch them.

Crappie feed year around, but prefer milder cooler water over warmer shallow water. This is what makes crappie good to fish for during the cooler weather.

Crappie follow schools of baitfi sh and move into shallow areas this time of year and will be active and not real tough to catch.

When you are choosing bait, a live minnow is hard to beat and also small tube baits and crappie jigs fished in and around cover will work well. This is the time of year that you can also catch some big crappie.

Get out while the weather is still nice and give fall crappie fishing a try.
