I have been able to do a lot of fishing at Carr Creek Lake the past few weeks. We have caught a lot of fish, including several nicesize ones.
We mostly caught bluegill and a few bass. I do not have a boat right now, so all of our fishing is off the bank and off the fishing docks. Still, we have managed to do OK.
On a couple trips we caught some nice-size bluegill and many smaller ones. But to a true angler, any fish is good to catch.
While I have been at Carr Creek, several people have been night fishing for crappie off the docks and said they had done pretty well most of the time using small live minnows. Some were using small tubes and grubs for crappie.
At the fishing dock up toward Hindman there were anglers nightfishing for catfish with chicken livers and shrimp, and were catching a bunch of really nice cats — one well over 20 pounds.
Bass fishing has been kind of up and down with all the rain before this recent dry spell. Still, some nice bass have been caught in the past few weeks on crank baits and buzz baits. The lake is at summer pool and fairly clear and stable.
It’s time to get out and get in on some of the action.
