It is just too hot to get out and fish during these hot summer days, nor is it safe to be out in the heat for long periods of time.
If you do try to get out be sure to only go out for short periods, be sure to take plenty to drink. Not getting dehydrated is very important. There are things you can do to help you avoid the direct sunlight — look for shady areas in the back of coves with a lot of large overhanging trees or fish around covered boat docks if you can. These have shade on them during most of the day.
Also you can wade fish one of our many good streams and rivers during this time of year. Most of these offer plenty of cooler shade and good fishing. So just play it safe and fish early or at night until this weather gives way to the cooler weather of early fall.
