Dogwoods blooming; go fishing!

All this nice warm weather has helped out the fishing. I have talked to several fisherman that have had some good trips.

The dogwood trees are blooming out, and that is a sign that it’s time to start picking up on crappie and bass fishing. As the water temperatures rise and the water levels increase the fishing will get better.

When the rising water covers new areas, the bugs and worms in the ground and on the surface will draw feeding fish into shallow and backwater areas. If a fisherman can fish these areas they have a good chance of a good day of fishing, as this will make fish more aggressive.

I think on most lakes the water surface temps are around the 55 to 59 degree range. When the temps get in the low 60’s the fish become more active and some look for backwater areas to spawn. All this will take place over the next several weeks.

Water temps are very important this time of year so keep a close eye of them this will determine the activity level of most fish. So if you want to fish now is a good time to give it a try.
