This past weekend marked what most consider the kickoff to the summer camping and fishing season. There were a lot of boats and fisherman on the lakes, with many anglers out fishing for a wide variety of fish from bass to crappie to bluegill to catfish.
From now until Labor Day, there will be something at the lake for everyone. Most of the beaches opened over the weekend as well. Swimming is very popular and a great way to cool off.
Some of the lakes are high and stained because of all the recent hard rain so if you are on the lake looking for a place to fish you may want to look for a area where a creek or culvert is bringing in clearer water and making a more clear area to fish.
Fish will use the area where the clear and stained water meet as a kind of ambush or hiding area to run out and hit prey. So use baits like spinners and crank baits in these areas along these muddy clear water lines for the best action.
Hope to see you on the water soon.
