One good thing about warmer weather is the chance to get out and enjoy some time with family and friends fishing and doing other outdoor activities.
Whether it’s fishing, swimming, boating, wading or hiking, if you are like me most everything you do is with your family.
I recently had a day of fun with my family at Carr Creek Lake. We had a nice picnic and got to fish a lot and let our four-year-old granddaughter play on the playground and catch her first little fish, a nice bluegill. She was not afraid of it at all and touched it several times. But fishing is in her blood, I guess, from her Papaw Gabby.
We fished around the floating dock at the launch site. I have fished this area for many years and always seem to have a good trip — and a few great trips — in this area. I have caught bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass, catfish, and walleye off this dock. I have even night-fished for crappie on this dock in the past and fished many a morning after getting off work in the mines.
I have seen a lot go on here over the years. The day we were there it was very busy with a lot of anglers and boat traffic and good folks out picnicking. We caught several nice little fish, and my daughter hooked a very nice bass that broke the line right at the bank.
If you are looking for something to do with your family, give this type of outdoor fun a try.
