Gary L. Fields dies at 72

Funeral services for Gary L. Fields, 72, of Jeremiah, were held April 12 at Kings Chapel Church in Whitesburg. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.

A son of the late Clayton and Jeanette Fields, he was born in Whitesburg. He died April 9 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard.

He was an ordained bishop of the Church of God, and pastored six churches in more than 40 years of ministry. He obtained a master of arts degree in Pastoral Ministry and Bible.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Farler Fields; a son, David K. Fields and Angie Hatton of Whitesburg; a daughter, Misty L. Johnson and husband Donnie of Morristown, Tenn.; four brothers, Clayton “Buddy” Fields of West Carrollton, Ohio, Larry W. Fields of Wallins Creek, Tommy C. Fields of Glasgow, and David R. Fields of Knoxville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Lauren Fields, Jarred Day (U.S.A.F.), and Samuel Fields; and three great-grandchildren, Cullen Breeding, Channing Breeding, and Paxton Day.

He was preceded in death by his youngest brother, Bobby K. Fields, and a great-grandson, Cooper Day.

Everidge Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
