Gavin Adams, Morgan Rowe mark birthdays

Blackey

Some of my news is a little behind. It takes sometimes a few weeks to get enough to put in.

Happy birthday to my precious great-nephew, Gavin Isaiah Adams of Carcassonne. He turned one on Dec. 12. He is the son of B.J. and Shanna Adams and the grandson of Gary “Duke” and Debbie Fugate of Carcassonne and Jr. Adams of Letcher and the late Cheryl Adams. He has an older sister, Miss Em. He had a Thomas the Tank party at the Carcassonne Community Center on Dec. 9.

Happy birthday to Morgan Rowe of Caudills Branch. She turned seven on Dec. 10. She is the daughter of William and Rosemary Rowe and has a older brother, Tyler.

I received an email from James Cornett. His brother had let him know that Charles Dagnan had died. Charles was born and raised in Blackey and was the son of Chester Dagnan. His brother, Bill, died last year.

My neighbor, Jon Henrikson’s, brother, Gene, died on Dec. 1. He lived in Illinois. Jon and his wife, Loretta, and one of their sons, Adam, went down for his services. One of Jon and Loretta’s granddaughters, Taylor Henrikson, had to spend the Friday night in the hospital. She is the three-year-old daughter of Jonny and Karen Henrikson of Carcassonne.

Ruth Ann Brown of Jeremiah had a heart attack and had to have triple bypass surgery at Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital about a week ago. She is doing as well as can be expected.

Stella Dixon of Blackey, had to be taken to Lexington to have another stent put in. She had some problems with the first one. She is doing well.

Barney Back and Scott Watts recently went to Las Vegas to visit with Chris Blair. They spent about a week.

The Carcassonne Sunday school will be having its Christmas play called “Grandma’s Cookies” on Sunday, Dec. 16, beginning at 6 p.m. It will be in the Sunday school building out on Jent Mountain right below Sue Jent’s home. Everyone is welcome.

I talked to Donna Griffie the other day and she wanted me to put in that her mother, Dorothy Cornett, recently celebrated her 80th birthday. Her son, Larry Griffie, came in from Tucson, Ariz., to celebrate with her. So late happy birthday to Dorothy.

Shane Caudill of Woodrock, had to be put into the hospital over the weekend. He was having seizures. He is the son of Jina Back.

My cousin, Eric Back, was able to go Christmas shopping. Thanks to LKLP helping with him. He went to Wal-Mart and was glad to be out of the nursing home for a little while. Dorse, Debbie and Brandie Back went with Eric to help him do his shopping.

My mom, Jean; my son, Justin; my sister, Debbie, and I went up and visited with him on Saturday and he seemed to be doing well.

Jo Halcomb of Ulvah, was in the hospital a couple weeks ago with heart problems but is home now and doing a lot better.
