Gertrude Hughes dies in Ohio




Ger trude Holbrook Hughes, 94, died April 13 at her home in Chardon, Ohio.

Born at Thornton, she was a daughter of the late Abbot and Clemmey Tolliver Holbrook. She was the widow of Theodore Minton and after his death married the late Kenneth Hughes.

She was a sister of the late Robert Holbrook, Marvin Holbrook, Rufus Holbrook, Mayo Holbrook and Mary H. Taylor, and the mother-in-law of the late William Pringle.

She was a member of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church in Whitesburg and attended Pilgrim Christian Church in Chardon. Employed for 16 years as a baker in the Chardon school system, she retired in 1978.

Surviving are a son, Daniel Minton and wife Lynnie, Wadsworth, Ohio; two daughters, Ricki Huron and husband Wayne, Avon, Ohio, and Lucille Pringle, Mentor, Ohio; a sister, Beatrice Strouth and husband Manie, Pound, Va.; and nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held April 18 in Chardon. Burial was in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township, Ohio.
