Getting ready for family reunion

A large crowd of family, friends and neighbors attended last week’s visitation and funeral service for Pressie Adams. She lived a long life, being almost 96 years old, and all together has 94 descendants (children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren). This leaves only her sister Lucille in that family.

Coreen Pridemore and I went up to the head of Drew Branch to help Mary Jo and Anna Lou Blair start cleaning up at Tommy Harris Smith’s picnic shed and cabin. Their reunion is coming up with the soup bean dinner on Friday, May 24, in the evening, and the Saturday dinner and meeting beginning at 5 p.m.

Burnett Caudill has really gotten the cabin and picnic shed all spruced up. The grass and weeds have all been cut and the road up the Dee Smith “Holler” has also been worked on. The day we cleaned was Mary Jo’s birthday.

Congratulations to Jason and Brooke Adams on the birth of their little baby boy. He was named Ollie Martin and he has an older brother, Evan. Grandparents are Martin Joe and Bonnie Adams and Ronald and Susan Ison. Great-grandparents are Betty Campbell, Wendell and Doreen Calhoun, and Rodney and Geraldine Ison.

Belated birthday wishes to Evangene Adams, who turned 86. He and Arizona were both able to be at church this past Sunday.

Guy and Patsy Parks were here from Louisville this past weekend. They came into decorate their family graveyards before Memorial Day. They also attended Blair Branch Church while here. Patsy’s brother was also with them.

The 16th annual memorial service at the William Adams Cemetery on Blair Branch will be held on Saturday, May 25, at 6 p.m. In case of rain, it will be held at the Blair Branch Church. All are welcome to attend.

K.P. and Lana Pridemore, Amber, Shane, Luke and Derrick, April and Isaiah all went to Somerset for a few days last week. They fished and enjoyed time together.

We hope and pray Aaron Blair’s surgery goes well. He was having it at Vanderbilt Hospital on Monday morning.

Watch out for copperhead snakes. There seem to be a lot of them this year. Don and Coreen Pridemore killed three on the property they bought across from their home (all in one week) and others report killing them too.

Mom’s sister Juanita Adams McCrarey had to have her heart stopped and restarted to get it back in a normal rhythm. As far as we know the procedure worked. Their cousin, Lillie Moss Hale, has a problem with her heart having an irregular beat also.
