Hello all! I hope each of you had a wonderful Independence Day. Michael, the boys and I did. We had a get-together at Mom and Dad’s house with the family, went to my brother Ward’s to let the boys swim, and watched the fireworks. We also celebrated Dad’s birthday with cake and ice cream that day.
Mom, Sylvania Whitaker, followed up with the specialist in Lexington about the tumor on her parathyroid. They agree that she does in fact have a tumor, but believe surgery won’t be required and that they can treat it with medication without any damage to her kidney from the tumor or the medication itself.
Dad, Allen Whitaker, had an appointment with a specialist in Pikeville about the blood flow in his foot this past week. They requested he have some additional tests done and what will happen from there will depend on the results.
Della Blair has been really sick and needs prayers. From my understanding, she has had a stroke and isn’t doing well.
Lee Whitaker is having trouble with his potassium being too high. I hope they figure out what is causing his troubles.
Roger Whitaker had surgery on his broken ankle. He is home now and recovering. Milk it for what it is worth, Uncle Rod. I know I would! Aunt Deb will take care of you.
Beverly Adams continues to need prayers.
I was thrilled to be able to visit with my great-niece and great-nephew, Hayden and Alissa Jent, children of Allen and Jessica Jent, for a few hours last week. Opal and David drove them back home to Madisonville and spent a few days with them. They had been here visiting with Jessica’s family. Hopefully next time I’ll be blessed to spend a little time with Zack too.
Deidra, Sammy, Kylee and Brantlee Gibson enjoyed a nice vacation in Orange Beach, Ala. From the photos, it looked like lots of fun, especially the dolphin cruise.
Junie, Shequeenia, and Braylen Whitaker vacationed in Nags Head, N.C. Thankfully they made it home before the tropical storm hit that area.
Johnny and Tammy Whitaker also just returned from vacation. They were runabouts and visited several places including the Biltmore Estate, Tweetsie Railroad, and Grandfather Mountain.
Congratulations to my nephew, Austin Whitaker, and to all the other members of the LCCHS archery team for coming in eighth place in the World Competition in Wisconsin. We are all very proud of you!
Haston Whitaker celebrated his birthday on July 10 and Abbie Cook Sexton, July 15. My youngest son, Dalton Maddix, will celebrate his ninth birthday on July 19; Lily Newman, Travis Smith, and Deidra Gibson, all on July 21. Happy birthday to each of you! I hope your special day is filled with all the love and laughter in the world!
Pamela (Crase) and David Turner celebrated their wedding anniversary on July 11; Bill and Evelyn Fleming and Jocelyn and Dennis Watts celebrated their wedding anniversaries on July 13; Wade and Lena Whitaker celebrated theirs on July 15; Opal and David Jent will celebrate on July 17; and Deidra and Sammy Gibson, July 22. I hope each of you have many more love-filled years together.
