Letcher County Central’s girls’ soccer team advanced to the final game of the 53rd District Soccer Tournament Monday after defeating tourney host Hazard, 4-0.
The LCC girls will return to Hazard tonight (Wednesday) to take on Perry County Central for the district championship.
After starting the season with a record of 1-4-1, the Lady Cougars have rebounded to win six of their last nine matches played since September 13.
The reverse is true of the LCC boys’ soccer team, which fell to Hazard Monday, 3 to 0, in the opening round of the boys’ district tourney.
The boys started strong, compiling a record of 3-0-1 by August 28, but then lost eight of their final 10 matches to finish the season at 4-8-2.
