The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars are entering a three-week stretch of eight games against some of the best competition in this area. The Lady Cougars visit district rival Knott County Central (7-2) Saturday before returning home to host June Buchanan School on January 8.
LCCHS plays 10-1 Shelby Valley in the WYMT Classic on January 10 at Perry County Central, and then comes home to host 14-1 Harlan County on January 18. The Lady Cougars next travel to East Jessamine to play Louisville Moore on January 19.
LCCHS returns home to host 7-5 Perry County on before a rematch at home against Knott Central.

Meadowdale rallied down the stretch to edge the Lady Cougars in the championship round of the three-day Surf N Slam Holiday Classic in San Diego, Calif., December 28.
The teams battled on even terms throughout the first half before LCCHS managed to take a 49-43 lead early in the final quarter only to see Meadowdale rally for the victory.
LCCHS trailed 16-14 after the first quarter, but the teams were tied 29-29 at the half.
Kelah Eldridge’s gamehigh 24 points led the 11-3 Lady Cougars. Julie Cornett added 14 points and Vannah Breeding finished with nine points. Keisha Collins and Kelli Quillen scored four points each. Cheyanne Stidham scored two.

Lakeside (Wash.) 37
The Lady Cougars employed a strong second half defensive effort to pull away for the victory over Lakeside in the opening round of the three-day Surf N Slam Holiday Classic in San Diego, Calif., Dec. 27.
Lakeside led LCCHS 10-9 after the quarter. With the game tied at 25-25 at the half, the Lady Cougars used full court defensive pressure and the scoring of senior Kelah Eldridge and Vannah Breeding to take control. The Lady Cougars capitalized on Lakeside’s turnovers and built a 38-28 lead by the end of the third quarter and then pulled away in the final quarter.
Kelah Eldridge’s gamehigh 20 points led the 10-2 Lady Cougars. Vannah Breeding finished with 10 points. Julie Cornett and Courtney Brock chipped in with six points each. Keisha Collins added five points and Cheyanne Stidham four.
