Glad we missed the ice storm

Jeremiah

A large crowd attended the visitation and funeral for David “Buzz” Adams last week. The funeral service was held at the North Fork Baptist Church and he was laid to rest in the Adams family cemetery, near his mother Pressie Adams’s home at Jeremiah. We send all his family our deepest sympathy during this sad time.

I was glad that the ice and snow predicted for us last week didn’t hit our area. We just got rain but other counties in the area did get the bad weather.

Bonita Adams was baptized recently at the Blair Branch Church. It was a warm day that Sunday and we all thought it was a very good day and were happy for Bonita. Afterward the Adams and Pridemore families had dinner together at Ellis and Ila Adams’s home.

Happy birthday to Dillon Whitaker, who recently turned seven years old. We sang “Happy Birthday” to him and Dorothy Wright at the Blair Branch Church on Saturday night. Dillon got quite a handful of money from his church friends, who wished him a happy birthday.

Lee and Wilma Pridemore and DeeWee Sparkman have a new great-grandson who was born a couple weeks ago. Greg and Glenna Pridemore’s daughter, Allison, and the little baby boy are both doing well and reports are he is as cute as can be and growing already.

Claudette Watts is doing better after her recent fall. She hurt her knee and broke and dislocated her shoulder, too. We’re glad she is doing better.

Opal Adams of Isom also fell and hurt her shoulder, but didn’t break any bones. Her daughter helped her out and since it has been a couple of weeks, hopefully Opal is all better.

Harrison and Elsie Engle recently were in a car accident near their home in Virginia. They were hurt but not seriously. Harrison is the son of the late John and Mamie Engle of Jeremiah.

Verlon Breeding of Doty Creek, recently celebrated his birthday by having dinner with his family in Virginia.

Christy Duke Kincaid and her children were in from Lexington to help her mother, Alma Rose Blair, and her grandmother, Opal Duke, celebrate their recent birthdays. They all had dinner at Estill and Alma Rose’s home on Black Bottom.
