Gladys Campbell dies at 95


Gladys Webb Campbell, 95, of Mayking, died September 7 at Christina Place Assisted Living facility in Franklin, Ind.

She was the daughter of the late William Hartley and Elizabeth Lusk of Ulvah.

Mrs. Campbell taught elementary school for 36 years, which included starting out in one-room schoolhouses where she taught grades one through eight. She spent most of her teaching years with second graders. She loved teaching children just starting out with the basics.

She also enjoyed working in her garden in Mayking and kept the entire family in garden vegetables. She was an avid churchgoer at the Old Regular Baptist Church in Mayking and was always willing to help others.

Surviving are a son, George M. Webb and wife Margit of Franklin, Ind.; a sister, Lilly Faye Campbell of Bronston; five grandchildren, Christopher Webb of Lake Orion, Mich., Hoa Luong of Raleigh, N.C., Lisa Morris of Franklin, Ind., Tanya Fury of Fredericksburg, Va., and Krista Morse of Greenwood, Ind.; 15 great-grandchildren, Cory, Brittney, Linda, Daniel, Donald, Judy, Kristyn, Cain, Cody, Jesse, Casey, Teresia, Michael, Julia, and Alexander; and 10 great-greatgrandchildren, Maleeah, Kaylynn, Damon, Jackson, Maverick, Tiffany, Landon, Dylan, Asher and Arlyn.

Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Webb, and second, husband Homer Campbell; four brothers, William Lusk, Jr., Lester, Ernest and Kermit; and seven sisters, Vina, Louisa, Effie, Thursa, Ada, Margaret, and Bobby Jo

Visitation will take place from 5 to 9 p.m., Friday, September 13, at Letcher Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 14, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Webb Cemetery at Mayking.
