GOLF SCRAMBLE









— The Letcher County Schools Education Foundation held its second annual Golf Scramble on Aug. 10 at Raven Rock Golf Course. The event raises money for academic and arts programs in the Letcher County Public Schools. Seventeen teams and a number of sponsors participated in the scramble. In the top picture are the first-place team winners representing Jarisa Coal Company, Jason Hogg, Nathan Bailey, Dr. Shane Barker and Charlie Wright. Each won a $250 gift card. In the next picture are second-place winners representing Appalachian Regional Hospital, Brandon Cornett, Chad Bowling, Duran Sparkman and Scott Miller, who each won a $100 gift certificate. Below is the Rick Seals team, the third-place winners, Rick Seals, Jon Haynes, Christian Spears and Chris Tolliver. Each won a $25 gift certificate. Pictured with each of the teams is Letcher County School Supt. Anna Laura Craft. The putting contest winner was Dr. Shane Barker, the closest to the pin winner was Derrick Wright, and the longest drive winner was State Rep. Leslie Combs.
