Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well and enjoying the pretty weather.

It’s been pretty so long it doesn’t seem like we had winter, but in some places it was pretty bad. I’m sure everyone’s garden is doing well.

This has been a sad week. We offer our sympathy to the families of Chester Lee Hatton and Betty Sturgill. I went to both funerals. Chester Lee had a very large crowd and I got to see a lot of the Hattons I hadn’t seen in a long time. It was a beautiful service.

The next day I went to Sister Betty Sturgill’s funeral. The house was full and the service was great! We were in the same church. She was in poor health for many years. She was the sister of my pastor, Bro. John Conn, and she has been missed and we will never forget here.

I’m sorry I missed a call from Gladys Smith in Bolivia, N.C. She’s not in real good health, like a lot of us, but we are not as young as we used to be.

We are looking forward to our Howard reunion on Memorial Day. My brother Hillard Howard visited me yesterday and he won’t get to come to our reunion. He will be on vacation. He lives in Florida and sounds like he lives on vacation. I was so glad to see him. He lived next door to me and we had coffee together every morning and I still miss it.

My sister Judy Greene, my sister Betty Tyree and I spent an evening on my porch and we had a good time. They said they were coming back today.

I got a call yesterday from my cousin Jewel Adams in Florida. We went to first grade at Blackey and we’ve kept in touch. She was married to one of my cousins and they got divorced and she kept me. We hadn’t talked for a while, so we talked for an hour and 58 minutes, mostly about Blackey people and we talked good about them. I try to keep up with them. Many of them are no longer with us and we remember them.

I offer my sympathy to the family of Astor’s wife’s sister, who passed away. She had cancer for seven years. I met her about two years ago. I was sure impressed with her. She was always smiling.

My son Rob is in Lexington visiting with his family there. He was a good father and I think even better grandfather. He has four grandchildren, three boys and one girl. I wonder if she is the boss. They are all good looking.

My son Bill and his family are at their lake house with friends.

I hope we have a good Howard reunion. It will be sad. We lost two sisters this year and they will really be missed.

We all had a good time at Kevin Day’s birthday party at Larry Hatton’s swimming pool. Larry Kevin and his brother Rocky had a good time swimming and also all the good food Linda cooked.

I got a graduation card from my granddaughter, Caroline Jeanette Nelson. It’s at Saraland, Ala. I am so proud of her. She’s so pretty and she is also a great baseball player and also makes good grades and has a great smile! She lives in Alabama.

My sister Judy Greene and his little grandson, Cooper, came out for a visit and we went down and visited with my brother Bobby Howard and wife Debbie. We got to see a lot of people there, their son Caleb and his family and their daughter Gabrielle and her husband Jonathan and their family and Debbie’s mom and dad were both there and a whole bunch of other people, some I didn’t know. We had a lot of good food and we all stayed ‘til 11:30 at night.

I’m glad to be able to go to Sunday school and church today. It rained all night and will be raining all day.

It was Judy’s birthday and she said she had a great birthday. She didn’t say how old she is, but I have a family tree that tells all of our family’s ages. But I won’t tell. She’s the youngest one of the girls and I’m the oldest one of all my family.

I got a call from Bill this morning. He and his family are still at the lake and they are enjoying their company with folks from California.

I hope everyone is doing well. May God bless all of you. Try to be in church somewhere if you are able.
