Hello everyone, it was been a very busy week with Election day.
Congratulations to Sam Wright for getting Supreme Court. You are the only reason I voted this time. Did not know any of the others on the ballot. I know you will do a great job.
Went to Alice Lloyd impersonator at Cowan. Her story was very interesting. Wish there had been a better turnout.
Then I went to Paintsville to the Country Museum on Thursday, to listen to music, and a public meeting at Cowan Community Center on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. to get people interested in storytelling.
We had a good turnout and several young people from Harlan County were in attendance. We are hoping to get started in January.
On Saturday night I was invited to Hemphill Community Center for a benefit for Pastor Joe Brown of Neon, who has cancer. The groups that were singing were God Sent, from Wheelwright, Va.; The Gospel Lights from Clintwood, Va.; and The Last Call and The Anointed, both from Hazard. Harold Fouch from Anointed was in charge of sound, and did a great job.
Also performing were The Singing Holbrooks from Dickenson County. Bro. James Boyd is a son of Marie Johnson Boyd, formerly of Little Cowan. She is 82 years old now, and unable to travel with them. I was finally able to meet him. He sent me a CD some time ago, and I was waiting for them to come over this way so I could go hear them.
His two young daughters sang as well. I was blessed with all of the music.
Keep Joe in prayer. He said that whether he goes or stays, he is a winner either way, but would love to see his lost loved ones be saved.
People from his church also sang and had a bake sale and sold food. Hopefully, the Lord blesses all of them well.
Then I went to church on Sunday and had good service and was blessed.
Happy birthday to Debbie Miles Lester on Nov. 3; Shelia Boggs Hurt and Donald Hardin on Nov. 4; Cathy Lewis Boggs, Lisa Pack Fields and Samuel Luke Turner, who turned 2, all on Nov. 5; Tammy Turner turns 12 on Nov. 6.
Happy anniversary to Wayne and Tammy Turner on Nov. 6. They’ve been married 33 years. Congratulations.
Lyndsey and Shannon Burke were married one year ago on Nov. 8. Congratulations.
In memory: Earl Rayburn and Josh Fields, both five years ago on Nov. 5; Novake Banks Francis, three years ago on Nov. 7.
More birthdays this week, Hager Trent on Nov. 16 and Katina Rayburn Collins on Nov. 18.
My Uncle Isom Fields called from Morristown, Tenn. All of his family are well.
There are so many who are sick and need our prayers. Keep everyone in prayer, especially our nation.
Glad to see McDonald’s serving breakfast. Really helps us late sleepers.
Well folks, I’ve got to go. Have a great week, and may God bless until next time.
