Grand jury charges 8 in true bills



The Letcher County Grand Jury has returned eight new indictments, one of which charges a Thornton man with making methamphetamine.

The grand jury says William Daniel Bentley, 39, of 79 Golden Rod Drive, Thornton, possessed meth precursors on February 4, which he used in manufacturing methamphetamine. He is also charged with being a persistent felony offender.

Letcher County Sheriff ’s Lt. Brian Damron testified in the case.

Others indicted by the grand jury are:

• Kristina Rose Mullins — theft by unlawful taking (firearm).

Mullins, 32, of 901 Hwy. 343, Seco, is accused of taking a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver belonging to James Otis Williams on January 23.

James Otis Williams testified in the case.

• Timothy Gayheart — criminal complicity to criminal mischief (first degree).

The grand jury says Gayheart of 156-A Mountain Ave., Hazard, and 8237 Hwy. 1003 TR, Somerset, acted with Tiffany Gayheart in destroying a garden plow belonging to Hank Hatfield.

Hank Hatfield testified in the case.

• Tiffany Gayheart — criminal complicity to criminal mischief (first degree).

The grand jury says Gayheart, 29, of 156-A Mountain Ave., Hazard, and 8237 Hwy. 1003 TR, Somerset, acted with Tim Gayheart in destroying a garden plow belonging to Hank Hatfield.

• Amber E. Bevins — criminal mischief (first degree).

Bevins of 261 North Abdoo St., Neon, is charged with damaging the residence of Edith Diane Wiseman when Bevins lost control of the automobile she was driving and struck the Wiseman home.

• Rodney L. Sexton — bail jumping and being a persistent felony offender.

The grand jury says Sexton, 29, of 93 Kona Dr., Kona, failed to appear in Letcher Circuit Court on February 26 for a hearing on a felony charge.

Deputy Circuit Clerk Sandra Wright testified in the case.

• Angela Renee Osborne — bail jumping and being a persistent felony offender.

The grand jury says Osborne, 26, failed to appear in Letcher Circuit Court on September 11, 2013 for a hearing on a felony charge.

Deputy Circuit Clerk Sandra Wright testified in the case.

• Dylan Maacial Rose —flagrant non support and being a persistent felony offender.

Rose, 22, of P. O. Box 492, Neon, and 2000 Hwy. 317, Neon, is charged with failing to provide support for his children.

Regina Hurst of the Letcher County Division of Child Support Enforcement testified in the case.
