Grand jury indicts nine

Two McRoberts men are named in indictments by the Letcher Grand Jury charging them with trafficking in methamphetamine.

Curtis Wayne Anderson, 35, of 50 Lonesome Dove Drive, is accused of complicity with Corey Fraley in tampering with physical evidence, firstdegree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine) and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

The grand jury charges Corey D. Fraley, 41, also of 50 Lonesome Drive, with complicity with Curtis Wayne Anderson in tampering with physical evidence, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine) and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

Letcher County Jailer Bert Slone testified in the cases.

Also indicted are:

• Thomas Mitchell Wright, 39, of 209 Kona Drive, Whitesburg, who is charged with two counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, criminal possession of marijuana (with firearm enhancement), use/possession of drug paraphernalia (with firearm enhancement) and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

Kentucky State Trooper Anthony Trotter testified in the case.

• Robert Mullins, 34, of 1002 Little Road, Marshall, N.C., who is charged with three counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs (first offense), failure of owner to maintain required insurance (first offense), buy/ possess drug paraphernalia, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine, first offense), possession of controlled substance not in original container and third-degree possession of controlled substance.

• Joseph Kyle McLemore, 35, of 1111 U.S. 60 West, Morehead, who is charged with complicity with Letcher County Jail cellmate Clarence Brown in striking cellmate Johnnie Eversole and causing a serious fracture of Eversole’s nose and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

Letcher County Jailer Bert Slone testified in the case.

• Clarence Russell Brown, 34, who is charged with complicity with Letcher County Jail cellmate Joseph Kyle McLemore in striking cellmate Johnnie Eversole and causing a serious fracture of Eversole’s nose and being a firstdegree persistent felony offender.

Letcher County Jailer Bert Slone testified in the case.

• Larry Wayne Bentley, 42, of 64 Tom Biggs Road, McRoberts, who is charged with reckless driving, firstdegree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle) and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

Kentucky State Trooper Brandon Watts testified in the case.

• Mitchell Paul Ross, 42, of 11108 Ky. Hwy. 805, Jenkins, who is charged with flagrant nonsupport of his minor child(ren) and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

Monica Adams of the Letcher County Division of Child Support Enforcement testified in the case.

In a seperate indictment, Ross is charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

Jenkins Police Department Patrolman James Stephens testified in the case.

• James Owen Collins III, 42, of 293 Brass Drive, Whitesburg, who is charged with first-degree bail jumping for leaving in-patient substance abuse treatment without permission and failing to appear for a rescheduled pretrial conference hearing in Letcher Circuit Court in a pending felony proceeding. Collins is also accused of being a first-degree persistent felony offender.
