Bobby Short, 71, of Jackhorn, died April 20 at Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital.
He was a son of the late Samuel “Mick” and Hassie Hall Short.
Mr. Short was of the Freewill Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired truck driver with the CB handle of Rebel. He was the owner/operator of MTrucking for 37 years.
He was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats fan, and loved animals. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Judy Short ; two daughters, Lori Kelly and husband James of Hazard, and Kimberly Carol Fletcher and husband Kevin of Safety Harbor, Fla.; a son, Vance Surratt and fiancée Naomi of Bulls Gap, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brett Kelly, Amber Kelly, Sara Fletcher, Sean Fletcher and Logan Surratt; a great-grandson, Colton Lee Kelly; a brother, Sammy Short and wife Lorry of Neon; a half-brother, Mickless Short and wife Jessica of Cornettsville; two nieces, Micklya Short and Samantha Short; a special friend, Jake Dollarhyde; and two nephews, Tyler Short and wife Beronica, and Mick Short.
Private graveside services were held April 22 at the Haven of Rest Cemetery in Mayking.
