Greg Stumbo will ask ethics panel for review

Newly appointed House Speaker Greg Stumbo says he will ask the Legislative Ethics Commission to look into his personal business dealings.

The Prestonsburg Democrat announced his intention in a speech on the House floor late last week

after a story in the Lexington

Herald-Leader raised questions about his dealings with a variety of businesses that the newspaper said have interests before the state legislature.

The newspaper, citing disclosure forms and securities records, said those businesses include coal companies, banks and law firms.

Stumbo said he has fully complied with ethical rules and financial disclosure requirements. He didn’t say when he would officially request the ethics panel to begin the review.
