Groundbreaking set at Whitesburg ARH

Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its planned $11 million expansion and renovation project. The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18 in the hospital parking lot adjacent to the Highway 15 Bypass.

“The project offers the best to patients, staff, and the community,” says Dena Sparkman, Whitesburg ARH community chief executive officer. “As we considered current and future patient needs, it became apparent that the renovation of the hospital, with an addition to the current structure is the best option. The new and renovated spaces will provide state-of- the-art facilities, customized to meet the needs of our patients and our community.”

Included in the project will be a third floor renovation as well as a new wing addition.

The renovation will include 20 private rooms, two isolation rooms, updated nursing stations, and a waiting room.

In the addition will be 16 private rooms, four labor and delivery rooms, additional cribs in the nursery, a women’s surgery suite, two waiting rooms, and a lactation center.

ARH has launched a fundraising campaign to assist in the cost of the project. For more information, visit www.arhfoundation.org.
