Group attracting young people

Greetings to all from the Eolia Christian Community Outreach Center.

“Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation, and thy right hand upholds me; And thy gentleness makes me great.” Psalm 18:35

Looking out the window, in spite of 33 degrees I can see bushes blooming and the grass greening up even though Old Man Winter has blustered in with what I hope is his last breath of freezing weather.

Last week we welcomed Veterinarian Kellie Bradford with his wife and daughter to ECCO, where he gave exams and shots to pets for a minimal fee. Because I was misinformed, I wrote in my previous column the services would be free and I apologize for that. We are grateful to this family from Florida for bringing their mobile client to our community and treating pets at such a low cost.

Since folks have been inquiring about the Eolia Youth Group and after talking to Kelly Addington, this is what I learned. They begin with devotions, do crafts, play games, sometimes watch a movie, have snacks and just have a good time socializing in a Christian atmosphere. This summer they plan to meet at the Eolia Community Park for sports and outdoor games.

The Eolia Community Park Committee met at ECCO and voted to purchase games and sports equipment for the Eolia Youth Group. ECCO and the Eolia Community Park Committee fully supports the efforts of Kelly and Mindy and are so pleased to see with each passing week more youth participating.

We have a date set in May for our revival, which will take place at the ECCO Chapel with Minister John Doug Hays. I’ll have more details later.

I recently learned from friend Phyllis Pennington that she has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and I’m asking everyone to lift Phyllis up in your prayers.

With that, I’ll leave you with this thought for the day. Nothing is so strong as gentleness. Nothing is so gentle as real strength. Eolia
