Group to make debut

Check out our Facebook page for announcements and pictures posted after each event at www.facebook.com/pages/Hemphill Community-Center.

The Senior Fellowship would be a good place for the lonely to gather for good company and good food. We hope no one is sitting home alone on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Friday Nite Pickin’ was great last week with Cross Country Bluegrass. The dancers and music lovers gathered for a spectacular show. We all had a wonderful evening.

Schedule of events:

Aug. 26, at 7:30 p.m., The Right Fork Ramblers will make their debut at our place. These guys are new as a group but no strangers in the bluegrass scene. Jeff Kennedy from Clintwood, Va., is singing lead for the group and playing guitar. Jeff has played with Kody Norris, Midnight Ramblers and the Dale Kennedy Orchestra. John Moore from Clintwood, Va., will be on the banjo. He has played with the infamous Peter Scruffagus, and Gertrude Grundleheir in the John Moore trio. Marcus Riley from Pound, Va., will be playing the mandolin. He has been seen playing with The Bluegrass Messengers, Cross Country Bluegrass, and the Dale Kennedy Orchestra. Anthony Oquinne from Clintwood, Va., will be on the upright bass. Anthony has played with the South Mountain Boys and Cross Country Bluegrass among others. This promises to be a really nice evening for all. Come join us!

Aug. 30: Senior Fellowship.
