Hamptons share June 15 anniversary

First, I want to start off with thanking everyone who was involved with offering comfort during the time that Mom had died. Granny asked me to put this in here last week and I missed my news deadline. I apologize for the delay in that.

There were many people who attended the services and I guess we didn’t realize that she had touched so many lives.

June 3, Kimelia Osborne, her husband, Brad, and twin sister Cora Fields all came up to Bardstown and we all attended the Davy Jones Concert at the J. Dan Talbot amphitheatre at the Old Kentucky Home State Park. It was the kickoff of the Concert in the Park series for this summer.

There are many upcoming weekly concerts in the city park that are free and concerts at the amphitheatre, include Juice Newton and Chuck Wicks, who sings the song “Stealing Cinderella.”

Happy birthday this month to June Clark on June 9, and happy anniversary to Tate and Inez Hampton and their son and daughter-inlaw Corbin and Kim Hampton, both on June 15.

The last day of school in Bardstown was June 4. The kids have lots to do here with the skateboard park, city parks and the city pool. My kids are lucky enough to have a backyard and a basketball goal where we are currently residing. They just need encouragement to get outdoors instead of having those wrestling matches indoors that we found out rather quickly as children ourselves, can get on a parent’s nerves.

The sun has been quite hot this year and I wonder if it means we’ll have an early winter season, or if it will be hotter than usual in November and December, or if will make no diff erence at all.

Several people a day walk down the street to the DQ, and my own kids get to go from time to time with the heat although Bernard isn’t so keen on making that walk.

It was 92 degrees and diffi cult to breathe due to the humidity for several days last week.

Prayer list this week includes Tate and Inez Hampton of Eolia, June Clark, Jim Hardesty, Kathy and Jr. Beavers, Jeff Lester Sr., Carmen J. Lester, Denise Hicks, Cheryl Lyvers, and Elizabeth “Biz” Nichols, all our politicians, both those in office and those who will be finding out which of them shall be elected in the November election.
