Harlan Rotary to host golf scramble




The 25th annual Tommy Lee Memorial Scholarship Golf Scramble will be held Saturday, May 24 at the Harlan Country Club.

Registration for the event, held in honor of Tommy Lee, a community leader and former Harlan County Court Clerk, will get under way at 8 a.m. with registration followed by a putting contest at 8:30. Play will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.

The event will be played in a four-man scramble, best-ball format with the entry fee per foursome set at $260. Lunch will be provided, and mulligans and red tees may be purchased for team members at $10 per member.

Prizes will be awarded to participants with winning foursome players to receive a Taylor Made JetSpeed driver. Secondplace winners will receive a Taylor Made JetSpeed three wood. Additional feat prizes will be awarded, including a prize for closest to the pin on par-three holes.

All proceeds from the event will be used to fund two scholarships for students, one from Harlan High School and one from Harlan County High School, to attend Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College.
