Hatler Cook buried in Tennessee

Hatler Cook, 86, of Cumberland Gap, Tenn., died December 11.

Born in Whitesburg to the late Hasadore and Nancy Cook, he was the widower of Frances ‘Jean’ Cook. He was a brother of the late William Cook, Ed Cook John Cook, Stella May Campbell, Mary Elizabeth Tyree and Dixie Hale.

He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, and witnessed the flag being raised on Iwo Jima.

He was a member of the Gap Creek Baptist Church, and was an animal lover.

Surviving are a daughter, Yvonne Olinger; a nephew, Dean Tyree and wife Jean, and other nephews; nieces Mickey, Karen and Zookie Farmer, and other nieces; sisters-in-law, Eva Cook and Betty Cook; friends, Monica and Terry Massingill, Amedisys home nurses; and Donna and the Harrogate Senior Citizens.

Funeral services were held Dec. 15 in Tennessee. Burial was in Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Tennessee.
