Hattons celebrate 50th anniversary

Once you miss a week of writing a column, it’s hard to remember things that happened a couple of weeks ago so I will probably just recall a small portion of what I should write about.

Dennis Blair celebrated a birthday earlier this month and Boyd and Linda Hatton celebrated their 50th anniversary. Jeremiah

Our January weather has still been fairly mild except for a few snowy, cold days and nights.

The Letcher Area Homemakers held their January meeting last Tuesday and elected new officers and enjoyed hearing about Mike, Marcia and Megan Caudill’s trip to Ireland.

We hope Virginia Caudill of Carcassonne is feeling better after a few health problems. Most of us remember her fondly as our first grade teacher. She has a friend who stays and helps her out.

Our prayers also go out to Travis Morton and his family, Sylvania Whitaker, Betty Sue Back, Mary Helen Blair, Danny Ray ‘Hoot’ Campbell and all others who have sickness and health problems.

I also learned that Roy Kennon Smith fell at his home in Ohio and broke his shoulder recently. I hope it isn’t too bad.

A baby shower was given at the Blair Branch Church for K.P. and Lana Pridemore’s girls, Amber and April, who are both expecting in February. They appreciate all the gifts and well wishes from those attending.

Glenna Stewart Smith’s sister, Rethie, is now a patient at Letcher Manor Nursing Home. She wasn’t happy at the home where she lived and the family brought her back home to Letcher County.

Irene Jent of Redfox spent a week or so with her daughter, Debbie, and her family in Indiana during the Christmas holiday.

This weekend is church time at the Blair Branch Church, everyone is invited to come and be with us.

Larry and Sharon Hampton of Pikeville are having their 21st anniversary today (Jan. 18). They were married at the First Baptist Church in Clintwood in 1991. Larry is formerly of Blackey.

That’s it for now, have a good week.
