Hello, everyone, hope everything is going well for all of you. We’ve sure had a lot of rain. The sunshine sure looks good. I need to be going yard work real bad. I’ve used the rain for an excuse. My garden crop is doing really well. It’s just a bunch of rhubarb that came up on its own, but it’s really growing fast.

Wonder what kind of winter we’ve been having? Freida McKool said it was probably sarvis winter. They are in bloom. You don’t see many of them anymore. I can remember eating them when I was a child. I think the birds get them now.

It was so good talking to Anna Watkins Thursday night. I was so sick! I think I had a virus of some kind, but it was over by morning. Her daughter, Janie, had a birthday on April 2, same as my brother, Hillard. Belated happy birthday, Janie. You will always be the little girl I remember from Marlowe days.

It was good seeing my old friend since first grade at Blackey, Martha (Dixon) Burns. She seemed to be doing well. I wish we could have another Elk Creek reunion sometime. I sure enjoyed them. So many of the people are no longer with us, and many of them are getting older.

I’d love to see Beulah Back. I’ve always loved her and her late husband, Ray Back. I don’t get to visit folks like I’d like to.

It was good seeing Harrison Stidham and his two grandchildren (Jeff’s kids) at Save A Lot the other day, and the same evening his wife, Wanda, was trying to reach someone on the phone and got me instead. I enjoyed talking with her. Sometimes a wrong number is good, but if you get me you will have to talk.

I just got a call from another Marlowe girl, Madonna Taylor. I can’t remember her married name. She lives in Milford, Ind. She said her sister, Joella, was having a lot of foot trouble and was going to have to have surgery, and Joella’s mother-in-law, Coleda Sturgill of Pert Creek, was real sick.

I saw my niece, Margaret (Hatton) Combs at the Isom Post Office on Thursday. I hadn’t seen her in a while. Everyone has so much sickness, we just meet each other going and coming anymore.

Gabriella Howard, daughter of my brother, Bobby Ray, and Debbie Howard, will be having a 17th birthday party this week. She is such a pretty girl and a very special girl. About the only time I get to see her is in church. I’m so proud of her.

We had another baby shower on Saturday at First Baptist Church for Tonya Caudill. She is the daughter of Doretha and Ben Bentley. It was a great shower, large crowd, great food, lots of nice gifts, and good meeting everyone. Thank you, the pretty dark-haired girl who sat with us, for the nice things you said about my news. I can’t believe I didn’t get her name. I asked someone who she was and they didn’t know. It made me feel good that you look forward to it every week. To me it sounds so boring.

They’ve been having a real good revival at Whitesburg Holiness Church at Van. The evangelist was Bro. John Eliot of Alabama. He sure preached good. I was able to go three nights of it. Bro. Larry David Caudill is the pastor there. They sure have a beautiful church and I love the people there, especially my little brother, Bobby Howard, and his family.

There will be a baby shower for Bro. Caleb Howard and wife Erica at Cowan Community Center on Friday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited.

Bryan Howard’s wedding will be on Saturday, April 12, at First Baptist Church, so us Howards will have a busy weekend.

Opal Hogg of Isom, rode to Hazard with Shirley and me. She was glad to get to visit her brother, James Breeding, Shirley’s husband. She’s a sweet lady. She seemed to be having an allergy problem. Hope she’s doing better.

May God bless all of you. Try to be in church somewhere this week.
