It’s beginning to feel, and look, a lot like Christmas. We woke up to 3.5 inches of snow Saturday. It is sure beautiful to look at, but no fun at all to travel in. If Michael didn’t have to work and Bailey didn’t have to go to school, I wouldn’t mind if it snowed a foot.
For the past several years, I have done my best to have a homemade Christmas. I pretty much handmade all the gifts I gave out, had a blast making decorations for the house and doing tons of crafts with the kids. Michael’s family does an ornament swap, and it is so fun. You never know what kind of ornaments to expect from everyone. This year I really haven’t been full of the Christmas spirit like I usually am, well until the past couple days. Michael and I decorated the house and the boys helped us decorate the tree. I’ve pulled out my totes of craft supplies and have been busy working on ornaments.
Have you finished up your Christmas cards? I’ve managed to get most of mine filled out, but getting them out to everyone is another story. Giving and receiving them are one of my favorite holiday traditions.
Mom and Dad, Allen and Sylvania Whitaker, went to see Jake and Wilma Halcomb. Mom said she had been wanting to go and check on them. According to her, they seemed to be happy, and Wilma looked real good. She said Jake had fallen recently. He hurt his hand and said he was so sore he could hardly move. I hope he recovers quickly. We miss them here on the ‘holler’.
I hated to hear that Evalene Adams has been sick and is in Letcher Manor. Evalene is such a sweet and kind woman. I’ve heard that Bob isn’t doing too well either. Keep them in your prayers.
My niece, Alexis Fields, has been sick and had to miss school for several days. She had an allergic reaction and was broken out in welts all over. Thankfully, she is doing better now.
I am a little behind on birthdays this week. I would like to wish a belated happy birthday to Billy Ray Blair He celebrated his birthday on Nov. 29; Jessica Watts Combs, Dec. 3, and Dwana Whitaker and Hayden Jent on Dec. 4. I hope your birthdays were filled with lots of love and laughter.
My husband, Michael Couch, will be celebrating his 33rd birthday on Dec. 10. Happy birthday, hon. I hope it’s a great one!
If I have left anyone or anything out, just let me know and I will get you next week.
