Head Start students are graduated

Colson Head Start had its graduation ceremony and party at the Colson Senior Center. I was so happy to see all the children and their families. My greatniece Kaylee Grace Baker really had an enjoyable day. They all were so well behaved and were just adorable.

Otho and Pat Holcomb called this week and it’s always a pleasure to talk to them. I have never met them, but we have gotten to know and love them. Otho is originally from Letcher County and I think he knows more folks than I know in our area. He is a brother to Billie McKinney.

It has been a sad week for us because of the closing of Beckham Bates Elementary School. I will miss it. I do wish the very best to all the students and faculty as they move to Letcher or wherever they go next year. Change is hard on us, but we learn to adapt.

I have been looking at all the prom and graduation pictures on Facebook and can’t believe how times have changed. The children seem to be so young. I guess that’s just a sign that I’m getting on in years, but I still think I’m not so old.

Our son Randy came in this weekend and we so enjoyed his visit. Missed Jennifer and the boys but will see them soon.

Clester said the only time I make breakfast is when the kids are home. I don’t cook very much, but occasionally I do like to make a big country breakfast .

Get well wishes going out for our friend Greeley Bates in Winchester, Ind. He has been in the hospital for a few days but is now home and some better.

Also we are happy that Betty Vanover is doing some better. Jimmy Ray Slone is still a patient in Hazard Hospital. Maybe he will get to come home in a few days.

Our little neighbor A.J. is sick this week, running a fever and just not feeling up to par so we wish her a speedy recovery. Hope her sister Casey stays well.

Their Uncle Ricky and Aunt Phyllis help take care of them and love them so much.

A big bunch of birthday wishes for Jack Quillen, Nikole Lee, Kimberly and Cory Baker, and Sam Mullins .

Keep Clester in your prayers this week. He will be going through some more tests and maybe surgery.

Take care and hope you all have a good week.

God bless.
