Hello to everyone from Colson Center. We sure hope everyone is doing great.
We’ve been having a wonderful time at the center. We would like to invite you to come be with us if you are 60 or older. You’re always welcome.
We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with a hot dog dinner. We played Bingo and everyone took home a prize. We all wore our green, and we had a great time. The Community Trust Bank brought us a delicious leprechaun cake. Thanks!
The Colson Head Start came for a visit. We sure enjoyed having the kids there; they were a lot of fun. Thank you to Ricky Simmons from the Colson Fire Department for showing the fire truck to the kids and letting them sound the sirens. A special thank you to the teachers, Ms. Shirley, Ms. Kathy, Ms. Teddy, Ms. Missy, Ms. Carla, and all the parent volunteers for their help.
We had a special guest, Jeremy Jackson from Alpha Natural Resources, where he is a scope operator. He talked about what a coal miner’s job is. He also let the kids wear his coal mining hat. The kids had smiles on their faces. They really enjoyed what Jeremy was telling. Thank you very much, Jeremy.
Our community is saddened by the loss of Anice Caudill. I had the privilege of meeting her, and she was a sweet lady. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.
We have been watching on the Government Channel 98, where the tornadoes hit. We are saddened and our hearts are broken for the families that lost loved ones, and who lost everything. I am very proud of the Colson seniors. Everyone donated canned food that was sent out on the food truck for the tornado victims. They also pledged a $100 donation to the East Kentucky Tornado Funds.
You all make me so proud to call you my seniors.
We also want to thank Nikki Lucas for her donation of a computer for our center.
