He’s ‘one of us’

To the Editor:

I was born and raised in Letcher County. I have been blessed to work with many public servants over the past 20 years, but this is the first time I have written a letter to the editor.

I am doing so because I believe the coming gubernatorial election is the most important one in my lifetime because of the many problems the commonwealth faces. I ask for your support in electing James Comer as Kentucky’s next governor to lead us through these difficult times.

James Comer is a native Kentuckian who has proven that not only can he address the issues that affect Kentuckians statewide, he understands firsthand the issues that affect the rural parts of the commonwealth.

As Kentucky’s Commissioner of Agriculture, James Comer has shown bold leadership. As many of you may recall, immediately after he took office he was faced with unexpected and difficult issues that required tough decisions. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the decisions that he made, one thing is for certain — he did his job and took the actions that he believed were best for Kentucky. That is leadership.

Under James Comer’s guidance, the Department of Agriculture cut wasteful programs and returned $1.65 million to the state budget while maintaining the broad range of services provided by the agency.

As governor, James Comer will continue to work on issues that are important to Kentuckians who simply want a chance at a better life for themselves and, more importantly, for their children.

As I tell my family and friends, James Comer is “one of us.” I urge you to join me and help elect James Comer governor on May 19.
