Homeless shelter fundraiser a success

Greetings to all from the Eolia Christian Community Outreach Center.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” NKJV Proverbs 3:5–6.

Our fundraiser spaghetti dinner to raise money for our homeless shelter was a great success thanks to the many folks who purchased tickets and those that helped with the cooking and delivering. It was defi- nitely a team effort. It never fails to amaze me what a handful of dedicated volunteers can do. One step at a time, as this event brought us closer to making this endeavor a reality. A big thanks to Whitesburg Food City Manager Shaun Marcum and Cumberland Food City Manager Becky Sturgill for their generous donation of ground beef. Without hesitation these businesses happily stepped up to help. The Saving Grace Shelter board of directors and committee thanks and appreciates everyone’s efforts.

The ECCO Thrift Store is having a big half-price sale on all our clothing. We recently received a truckload of small kitchen appliances and cookware along with lamps and various household items, which are priced very reasonably. Sheldon has happily been sawing away in his shop producing children’s swings and toys, birdhouses and planters. U.K. fans should check out our U.K. birdhouses painted and decorated, of course, in blue and white. And for those who enjoy a trip to the ‘60s, we have the hippie birdhouses, well you just have to see to enjoy.

With that I’ll close with this thought for the day. There are four steps to accomplishment. Plan purposefully. Prepare prayerfully. Proceed positively. Pursue persistently.
