Well folks, here we are again. Let’s see what kind of weather is in store for this weekend. It wasn’t too bad last week, just a little cool at times.
I just found out that Ralph York had died in Pikeville. He had surgery not too long ago for colon cancer and seemed to be doing okay, then he died from a heart attack. He was a good man and worked hard. He was married to the late Helen Fields York and had three children, Regina, Karen and Tim. Our sympathy goes out to the family.
Regina’s granddaughter said, “He was on vacation with Jesus.” A child can put a smile on your face in your worst moments. God bless the children. The Yorks were formerly of Cowan.
Larry Gale Ratliff was killed in a car accident in Pikeville recently. He was the son of the late Fred and Dale Ratliff, and has a sister, Mickie. So sorry for her loss and the rest of his family. Big Cowan
A late happy birthday to Stacy Dobson, who celebrated Feb. 9. I hope you enjoyed your day. Also, Susan VanArsdall Poling, Feb. 14. She lives in Greensburg, Ind.
I hope everyone had a happy Valentine’s Day and got sweets from your sweetest.
Another death this past week in the Fields, Ison, and Rayburn families. Their aunt, Fannie Fields Land, died. Her funeral was Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Big Cowan Old Regular Baptist, and burial was in the Obie Fields Cemetery.
Please keep Mary Lou Fields, Carol Ann Fields Ison and Hazel Fields Rayburn in your prayers. That’s two more in their family in the last two weeks, their brother-in-law, Ralph York, and now their Aunt Fannie. It really has been rough on their families lately.
I received a really nice call and words of wisdom from Richard Day of Virginia Beach. It made my day. I needed that call, and it came at the right time. He knew a lot of people that I know (most of them have died). He said that his brother, Tommy Day of Indiana, had a car wreck a couple of weeks ago and broke his leg. We wish him a speedy recovery. I was sorry to hear that, Tommy. They are the sons of John L. and Violet Day.
It was good to see my aunt, Irene Day, up and about when she is able. I really miss her when I don’t get to see her because of bad weather.
Happy 21st birthday Feb. 17 to Christ Trent. I hope you have a good one.
Melinda Daniel went to Pikeville to have an MRI done. She was kind of nervous, but she did okay.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week. Be good to one another, call someone and let them know you care. Pray for someone.
Attend the church of your choice. Until next time, may God bless all of you.
