HOSA students compete

Fourteen health sciences students from the Letcher County Area Technology Center, accompanied by instructor Vivian Back, participated in regional HOSA competition on December 9 at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. Fifteen schools and more than 200 students participated in leadership and skills events. Letcher County ATC came away with three gold medals and six silver medals in six events.

Kristen Bentley placed first in nursing assistant and Heaven Bowman placed second. Whitney Bailey placed first in nutrition and Tiffany Dixon placed second. Brooke Back placed first in medical math and Kayla Kiser placed second. Kristen Sexton placed second in pathophysiology. Nikki King placed second in prepared public speaking and Karree Dixon placed second in medical terminology.

Also competing were Brittany Mullins, Robin Ison, Marlena Branson, Whitney Bailey, Hannah Boggs, and Kayla Caudill. The students will participate in state HOSA competition in Louisville March 3-6.
