I’m kind of running behind with my column, as usual, so I am mostly just getting in a few things.

There will be Vacation Bible School at Blackey Missionary Baptist Church on July 26-27 from 6 to 8 p.m., then on Saturday, July 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. That evening at 7 p.m. the group Free Indeed will have a gospel singing and everyone is welcome to attend.

Happy anniversary on Friday, July 20, to Dennis and Vada Blair of Blair Branch.

Chester and Odella Blair have been here for a few days and brought three of their grandchildren with them to visit at the old homeplace at Four Square.

Mary Jo Blair is recuperating from having surgery on her foot. She is having some pain and goes back for a checkup this week. We hope this helps her arthritis. Her neighbors are helping her out.

Bill and Wanda Maggard of Sycamore, recently celebrated their 39th anniversary with a getaway in Tennessee. They visited their daughter, Lucille, and Scott and Katie in Morristown while there. Their granddaughter, Hanna, celebrated her second birthday with a dinner at Pizza Hut. She is Jeremy and Stephanie’s daughter and they were here visiting, too.

We will be having a household shower for April Pridemore and Sam McIntosh, who were recently married. It will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 19, at the kitchen of Blair Branch Church. We didn’t have time to get out invitations, so any family and friends who would like to come and help out the newlyweds are welcome to come be with us.

Belated birthday wishes to our little neighbor, Jasmine. She had a birthday party last week and had loads of fun with her friends and family.

This weekend will be Blair Branch Church time. Sunday will be our communion meeting.

Rodney and Geraldine Ison had their daughter-in-law, Nellie, and their granddaughter, Beth, visiting last week. Beth enjoyed her visit and was wanting to catch one of Rodney’s barn kittens and take it back to Lexington, but I don’t think it worked out that way.

Congratulations to Mountain Eagle worker Sally Barto and her husband on their new baby. Hope mother and baby are doing well.
