Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well. Things have been really busy around here, but nice.
I called my son Rob to tell him happy birthday on Dec. 24. I don’t know why he decided to be born around Christmas. I think so he could get a lot of attention and I’m sure he has.
He was here for our Howard Christmas party at Cowan Community Center on Dec. 19 and it was great. We had a large crowd. There are a lot of us!
Our brother Hillard Howard has his children visiting him and he couldn’t make it. We all understood.
We thank everyone who came and worked hard. We enjoyed family and also our friends.
I went to the funeral of Paul Fields, who was our neighbor for a long time. Our sympathy goes out to his mother, Geraldine Fields. She has been real sick and wasn’t able to come to the funeral. There was a lot of the family there and lots of friends.
The funeral was at our church. Bro. John Conn and Bro. Billy Conn took care of the service. It went well; the preachers did really good.
They had a Christmas play at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church on Sunday. It was really good. I had four grandchildren in it, so it had to be good. Grandmothers don’t brag much, do they?
Ron and I and Bill Hatton and wife Sandra went to Pine Mountain Grill and we saw a lot of old friends we hadn’t seen in a while. We really enjoyed it.
Our church also had a Christmas play and it was so good! We really appreciated all the work by the teachers and the rest of church helpers getting it together. I know Bro. Jamie Niece and his wife Juda had a big hand in it. They are so good with children. Some of the children were real small and they looked so beautiful.
I’m sure Gretta Fields and Rachel and Amy O’Rourk and others worked on it. I’ll find out who all had a hand in it so I can brag on them.
They also had refreshments downstairs and everyone had a good time. I had to miss church when they gave out the date for it and I was surprised, but pleased to be there.
It was good seeing Bobby and Kathy Adams and her family, Jeremy and Tammy Adams and sons, and Tim and April Cupps and their little son Noah. We also say Charles and Brenda Howard there.
I enjoyed talking to Juanita Proffit. I hadn’t talked with her for a while. She and her husband Earl were doing pretty well. They’ve been through a lot since Earl had a bad fall a long time ago. They are expecting their grandson Ben and his family to visit after Christmas. He lives so far away they don’t get to see him much. They are really looking forward to it.
It was good getting a call from Bertha (Page) Dye. She hasn’t been feeling well for a while.
It was good getting a card from Vickie Underwood. It came on Christmas Eve. She thought it would be late.
I thank all my friends for all my cards. It’s almost like a little visit.
I’d like to tell the woman who sent me a card I have Charles Dixon’s book and I’ve seen pictures of her when she was a little girl. If her father was Ed Bryant, I saw a picture of him and the late Dennis Dixon made in the 1940’s. If you would like to call me sometime, my number is (606) 633-7120.
I’ve had a great Christmas with my son Larry and wife Linda and also Kevin and Wendy Day and Chris and Sara Hatton and their three children Beau, Brooke and Gracie and also Larry Kevin and Rocky Day, Wendy and Kevin Day’s sons. Since Christmas is over it’s hard to know what to do with myself so I guess I’ll do nothing.
May God bless all of you. Try to be in church somewhere if you are able. Sometimes we go when we don’t feel like it, but we always are glad we went.
