Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well.
Have you all been being good so maybe Santa will come see you? I’ve tried to be good.
I read in last week’s Eagle some of my friends are really talented. Martha Burns won first place for a quilt, and Colleen Hart for a quilt also, and Joanne Walters won first place in crochet and Anna Wright for a poem.
I wasn’t there and I wouldn’t have won if I had been there. If I ever find out what I’m good for, I’ll probably be real good at it.
I did win a medal for walking in my age group a few years back. It took me 70 years and I still have it. It was at a Senior Citizens Games in Hazard.
I may try again and see if I can win with the old ones, and maybe not. I’m proud of you ladies. We go back a long ways.
I sure am enjoying the Christmas cards I’ve been getting. I enjoy them more than gifts, and I read them over and over.
I just heard one of my nephews, Tony Howard, son of Hubert Howard, is really sick in a Lexington hospital. He lives in Nicholasville.
Please be praying for him. He’s such a good fellow and we all love him and his family.
My brother John Howard and my sister Louise Shepherd came out for a visit last Friday. I even fed them a little bit, and we had a good visit.
John’s sons, Joey and Scott Howard, were to come for a visit. We are having our Howard Christmas party on Sunday at the Shriner’s building. We are looking forward to it. I hope it goes well and I hope lots of them make it in.
It’s so hard to get families to get together. They are all scattered out and their jobs hinder them. We always have a good time. We are a close family.
Our church, Whitco Pentecostal Church, will be having its dinner at the same time at Cowan Community Center. I’m not going to go though I’ve never missed one in all the years, but I’ll have family here with me.
I’m sure my pastor, Bro. John Conn, and all the church will have a good time.
Some of our people are sick. Sis. Faye Combs of Perry County is in the hospital. She had surgery and came through it okay and is doing well. She’ll soon be back at church, playing music. She and her husband Randall are so faithful, and we love them.
Another one of our church ladies sings with a group, Heaven’s Jubilee, on a TV station in Beattyville. I watched them recently and she dedicated a song for me and Vickie Standifer. It sure pleased me.
She is my buddy and she is a good singer and can play guitar and piano. Our church really appreciates her.
We are really looking forward to our Christmas play. I think it is on Dec. 20. They sure do a great play. Last year was the best play I’ve ever seen.
Greta Fields is so good with our children, and she wrote the play. She sure is a blessing to our church and we appreciate her. She works full time at Letcher Manor Nursing Home and still teaches Sunday School and helps our church.
The world needs more people like her.
I’m expecting to have all four of my sons at our Christmas party. Rob and Astor will be in soon. I love having them around.
I’m enjoying having my brother John Howard here for a few days.
I’m sure everyone is all torn up thinking about all that’s been going on in Connecticut with all those little children and some older ones being killed. You would think our children would be safe in school.
Times are getting so bad that folks are really not safe anywhere. It’s all heartbreaking. We can’t imagine what it’s like there.
My brother John’s son Joey and grandson Simon are in. I haven’t seen them in so many years I probably won’t even recognize them. They came in for our Christmas party.
I hope all of you have a merry Christmas.
May God bless all of you. Try to be in church somewhere if you are able.
