Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well and have survived the holidays.
I really enjoyed them. I’ve learned how to do it and it’s sure made a difference for me and I’m not all worn out.
Our church had two plays, one with the children and the other with the grownups. They were both great and there was a full house for both. My brother John Howard went to our grownup play with me and he said it was the best one he had ever seen and I agreed. Our people worked hard and the church was all decorated. The men worked hard on that.
I went to the First Baptist Church nativity scene. It was beautiful. I loved the animals. I wanted to pet them, but they were too busy eating. I think they tried to smile at me. They were enjoying the hay.
My sister-in-law Jenetta Howard has been back in the hospital. I just called her. She’s home now and we had a long talk and she’s doing better. She said she couldn’t sleep in the hospital. It was too noisy.
My brother John Howard and I went to Cram Creek Church on Wednesday night and enjoyed it.
We had our Howard Christmas party at Cowan Community Center on Dec. 21 and it went real well. There was plenty food and a large crowd. There are a lot of us! It was so good seeing our cousin Dorthy Miles there. She seemed to be doing better. She looked good.
I want to thank everyone for all my Christmas cards. I got a lot.
Thank you, Alberta Barker, for all the nice things you put in your card to me. I don’t deserve it, but it’s what keeps me writing my news. It’s like having a visit with everyone. I really don’t get out and go much. I’m a homebody and mostly just call my friends.
We sure enjoyed the big party at my little brother Bobby Ray Howard and wife Debbie’s home. There was a large — very large — crowd there and enough great food to feed a small army. It was so good to be there. I went with my sister Louise Shepherd and Carol Day. I would have liked to stay longer. There were so many friends there I hadn’t seen in a long time. I didn’t get to speak to everyone, but I was glad to see you!
Louise Shepherd had her whole family for their Christmas. It’s so hard anymore to get all of our families together. They are all scattered out.
Larry and Linda Hatton had a big Christmas with all the family, Wendy and Kevin Day and sons Rocky and Larry Kevin and Chris and Sara Hatton and their children Beau, Brooke and Gracie and of course me. I sure enjoyed it.
Sandra and Billy Hatton and all their children, Angie Mullins, Dr. Jump and Andrea Hatton and their children Kate and John Luke, and Joe Hatton and Hannah all got together at the home of Jamie Hatton and Julie for Christmas. I haven’t heard if any others were there.
Angie’s children, Sam and Ellie Mullins, are visiting their dad Rich Mullins in California. Angie is missing them, but she wants her children to spend some time with their dad.
Maggie Cook had a big Christmas for all of her children who could make it. I know there was some good food there. I have been there a few times and Maggie is a great cook!
I’ve got a whole bunch of pictures of beautiful families. It will take a while, but I’ll get them all in eventually.
I don’t know if all of you had a white Christmas, but I did and I still have it on my hill. So do my son Larry and grandson Chris. Across the road from us, theirs is all gone. We don’t get the sunshine till evening. That works out well in the summer.
I hope everyone had a merry Christmas. I really enjoyed it, seeing so many friends and family and all the great food. I’m so thankful for all that. That makes Christmas!
Christine Fields and Claudine Sturgill, who lost your husbands, I thought about you through the holidays. You asked me, “How do you get over it!” You don’t, you accept it and deal with it and go on for your family and you will get through it with the help of God.
I went to Pine Mountain Grill on Friday to meet with a bunch of my family, Caleb Howard, Jerome Hatton and his mom Judy Greene (my sister), her daughter Tabitha and Jack Howard and Bro. Ernest Brock and wife Kathleen. We also met Effie and Charles Hatton. I hadn’t seen them since the Hatton reunion in August. We also saw Bro. Donald Tapio and his wife. We had a good visit.
May God bless all of you in the new year. Try to be in church somewhere if you are able.
